Kicking off Born in Vermont

On the heels of our work in the legislature to makes sure midwives and home birth are covered by insurance, we’re taking our message of healthy moms and happy babies to the streets!

VPIRG has joined forces with the Vermont Birth Network, and a host of other organizations, to bring you an on-going art exhibit and a 3 week series of events focused on celebration, education, and conversation. All to help families stay safe, healthy and active as they expand – as well as to support the growing number of local businesses and care providers that share these ideals.

We’re kicking things off with two big events this week:

  • Wednesday April 20th, Discussion and Book Signing: Join Michigan author Cynthia Gabriel as she shares her newest work: Natural Hospital Birth, the Best of Both Worlds. The talk begins at 4pm and there’ll be plenty of time for discussion, as well as copies of the book available. We will have light refreshments and some toys to occupy the kids.
  • Friday April 22nd, Opening Reception: Celebrating the exhibit, Earth Day and the kick-off of Montpelier’s Art Walk. Join us anytime between 4pm and 8pm for art, music, refreshments, and a birthing community meet-and-greet.

All events will be held Above Splash Naturals, at 58 Main Street in Montpelier.  For a full calendar of events check out the Born in Vermont website: https://sites.google.com/site/borninvt/
