VPIRG is a people-powered organization and proud of it.

Support from our members is critical for our ongoing work to promote and protect the health of Vermont’s people, environment, and locally-based economy. With your help, we can continue to educate thousands of Vermonters every year about the critical issues we face and then mobilize them in support of solutions that advance the public interest.

Include VPIREF in Your Will

You can leave an enduring legacy by naming VPIREF — VPIRG’s 501c(3) charitable education and outreach arm — in your will or living trust. It’s easy to do and costs nothing during your lifetime. You can decide to do it at any age by adding to an existing will or drafting a new one. You can take care of family and friends first and donate a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.

While your attorney should assist you in crafting specific bequest language, we suggest using the language below as a starting template:

“I give, bequeath, and devise to the Vermont Public Interest Research and Education Fund (Tax ID number 51-0163801), a Vermont nonprofit organization that is recognized as exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code , as amended, with its principal offices at 141 Main Street, Suite 6 in Montpelier, Vermont, [all or ____ %)] of my residuary estate OR [the sum of $ ______] to be used for its general purposes.”
