Packed House for Discussion on VT Yankee

Vermont’s energy path is at a cross-road. Vermont Yankee, the state’s sole nuclear power plant, is scheduled to close down in 2012. Currently, the Vermont Legislature is considering whether or not to grant a 20 year license extension to continue operation of the plant through 2032.
That choice was discussed at the Shelburne Town Hall when energy experts, legislators and local citizens met at the Shelburne Town Hall for a forum on our state’s energy options. Panelists discussed the political, health, economic, and environmental implications of this decision.
This forum was a great opportunity for the nearly 100 residents in attendance to learn more about energy issues and to express their opinions to key decision makers.
