Vermont Legislature Passes Groundbreaking Climate Bill

On Wednesday, the Vermont House passed the finalized version of the Global Warming Solutions Act, officially sending it the Governor’s desk for final approval.

The Solutions Act is the first major piece of climate legislation to pass in the VT legislature in years. It will effectively create a roadmap for Vermont to take bold climate action while creating more resilient, sustainable, and just communities, a framework that is even more necessary for our statewide recovery from COVID-19.

Failing to act as other states have to modernize their infrastructure will see our rural communities left behind while impacts of a changing climate fall on our most marginalized communities.

That’s unacceptable, and a key reason that the Solutions Act is so important. The Governor needs to know there remains broad grassroots support for this policy in our state.
