Just like a citizen living in any of the 50+ countries around the world with GMO-labeling laws, VPIRG believes you have a right to know whether the food you’re eating and feeding your family contains genetically modified ingredients (GMOs).
Having already won approval from the Vermont House of Representatives and support from Governor Shumlin, the VPIRG-backed GMO-labeling bill is now in the hands of thirty state senators. Because wealthy special interests like Monsanto and Dow Chemical poured millions into defeating GMO-labeling measures in California and Washington, we’re ready to stand up to the big money they’ll spend on bullying legislators into watering down our bill.
