VPIRG, Vermont’s largest environmental and consumer advocacy group, is looking for an individual with great people skills, excellent organizational habits, and an ability to manage multiple projects at once. The Office and Human Resources Assistant (OHRA) will be responsible for day-to-day upkeep of a summer canvass office. In this role, you’ll manage the needs of canvass and office staff in VPIRG’s Burlington office, ensuring that your team has what they need to do their jobs. You’ll act as a point person for personnel matters, and will be required to exercise sensitivity and discretion. You will be responsible for timely collection and organization of HR paperwork for a large staff, communicating with canvass directors to maintain accurate records. You will assist the canvass staff and the finance & data team to address administrative needs as they arise, contributing to a coordinated effort to execute a successful summer campaign. The position is based in VPIRG’s Burlington office starting full-time in May and working through August 16 (or ideally 23). The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Job Summary: The OHRA will contribute to VPIRG’s work by helping to address administrative and office management needs, maintain a clean and organized space, and act as the face of the VPIRG canvass office. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure timely collection of accurate and complete HR paperwork for all staff
- Facilitate master staffing schedule in coordination with the canvass directing team
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for VPIRG personnel policies
- Complete gift deposit daily, counting/confirming numbers and bringing deposit to the bank
- Maintain orderly office systems and keep track of office materials, order as needed
- Provide other administrative assistant to Director Team as needed
- Track canvasser hours to avoid OT pay
- Assist Data Team with data entry, filing and data verification tasks as needed.
Qualifications: Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner; flexibility and grace under pressure; obsessive attention to detail and aptitude for office systems; proficient in Microsoft Excel; HR or social work experience is a plus. The ideal candidate is flexible and detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
