On Tuesday, the Vermont House of Representatives passed H.475, a VPIRG-backed bill that will streamline the process for Vermonters choosing to power their homes and businesses with solar and other renewable energy sources. This bill strengthens Vermont's already nation leading renewables legislation, and builds on work VPIRG and our partners did in 2011.
“Vermonters overwhelmingly want to take control of their own energy future by embracing renewable energy,” said Ben Walsh, VPIRG's Clean Energy Advocate. “Providing greater clarity and removing unnecessary red tape, this bill makes it even easier for Vermonters to go green with their energy choices.”
The bill has one more procedural vote in the House and then will head to the Senate for its consideration.
Our advocates are back in the State House working on smart, sustainable solutions that work for Vermont. On issues from clean energy to health care reform, lawmakers listen to VPIRG because they know we represent thousands of Vermonters just like you.
