Save Our Health Care

On Sunday, January 15th, we stood among over 1,000 Vermonters at the Burlington rally for health care, held in conjunction with over 70 other events across the country organized by Senator Bernie Sanders. Together, we stood for the tens of millions of Americans who have gained access to health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act, for continued funding for critical public programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, and for the health and well being of our nation’s families.

In Vermont alone, 35,000 people are at risk of losing their coverage if the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is dismantled without an effective replacement, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Working families would lose significant financial assistance currently provided, and the state would lose $2.9 billion in federal funds – while also paying more for uncompensated care.

VPIRG believes that all Vermonters deserve comprehensive, affordable healthcare, regardless of their income. We will fight back against state or federal policy that threatens to move us in the opposite direction.
