Health Care Conference call with Gov. Shumlin

Next Thursday, Gov. Shumlin will sign into law the landmark health care bill (H.202) that puts Vermont on a clear path to a health care system that’s fair, covers everyone and puts medical decisions back in the hands of patients and providers – all without breaking the bank.

The Governor is so appreciative of our efforts to help get this bill passed that he’s agreed to join us for a conference call the day before the bill is signed into law!

It’s been a truly amazing year for health care in Vermont.  But while it’s important that we take time to celebrate our success, we can’t just pack up and go home now.  This is only the beginning of a long struggle and we have a lot more work to do.

Many Vermonters have heard some noise about the reform legislation, but most don’t yet know what ‘reform’ means or how it’ll unfold.  Our opponents will try to capitalize on this uncertainty, using the summer and fall to spread fear and misinformation in the hopes of derailing our progress in 2012.

That’s why I’m asking you to join me in our efforts to reach out to communities across the state.  We need to set the record straight, answer questions truthfully, and bring more folks on board so that we can build a health care system that works for everyone.
