Health Care Advocate | Policy Advocacy Internships | New Media Internship
Health Care Advocate
VPIRG is looking for an exceptional advocate to join in our fight for high quality, affordable health care for all Vermonters. Regardless of what happens in the federal health care debate, there’s lots to be done right here to keep Vermont a leader in progressive health care policy. We’re working to pass major reforms that will provide health care security and stability for hard-working Vermonters, and we’re taking on the health insurance lobby to do it. This is the ideal position for an experienced advocate looking to take on a hot issue in a state that’s willing to lead. While specific health care policy experience is a plus, it’s critical that you have a proven track record of effective campaign planning and advocacy. The right candidate will have a passion for public interest issues and a sense of how to leverage grassroots activism to achieve legislative and policy change. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Montpelier.
VPIRG provides a number of unpaid internship opportunities for students throughout the year. Internships vary in content and focus based on the projects and programs they support. Interns work directly with VPIRG advocates and organizers and collaborate with partner organizations and staff in the completion of their projects. Interns generally work out of our Montpelier office for a minimum of 10 hours per week. Some travel may be required depending on the project. These are unpaid positions, however stipends and/or credit options may be available through your school or other sponsorship.

We’re expanding how we utilize new media and social networking tools to grow our network and deepen member engagement. We are looking for a creative, tech-savvy intern to help design innovative campaign media and to help build a dynamic, effective online presence.
